Nathan Bracken, tall and slim in the Bruce Reid mould, moves the ball both ways and fitted easily into Australia's one-day squad in 2000-01.

A shoulder injury cut short his maiden Ashes tour in 2001 and he was forced to be sidelined.

He came back into the national squad in the 2003 World Cup, after Jason Gillespie was dropped out due to a heel injury.

With Glenn McGrath out of the series against India this summer, Bracken was handed the baggy green in the Test against India in Brisbane.

He is a promising young man who has taken 28 ODI wickets in just 17 appearances, with best figures of 4 for 29.
