Naveen inaugarates several projects in Cuttack

Ahead of municipal elections in Cuttack next month, chief minister Naveen Patnaik has inaugurated and laid foundation stones of several projects in the city.

Ahead of municipal elections in Cuttack next month, chief minister Naveen Patnaik has inaugurated and laid foundation stones of several projects in the city.

Besides inaugurating a woman's hostel and a convention hall inside Ravenshaw University campus, Patnaik also laid the foundation stones of seven other projects, including the proposed second bridge over River Mahanadi at a whopping cost of Rs 120 crore yesterday.

Since Indian History Congress is now being held in Ravenshaw University's convention hall, the chief minister threw open the half-constructed facility. He also inaugurated a 400-seat women's hostel inside the campus.

Similarly, foundation stones of a water treatment plant at a cost of Rs 79 crore and double-lane of Cuttack-Chandbali road at a cost of Rs 153 crore were also laid by the chief minister on the day.

While opening a statue of Gana Kabi Baishnab Pani at Khan Nagar in the city, Patnaik also laid the foundation stone of a project to develop and modernize the historic Qadam-e-rasool, a holy place for Muslim community here.

The chief minister also laid foundation stone for setting up an arch at Devi Gada and Saheed Park at Nuapatna in the city on the day.
