Police said about a dozen armed Maoists packed dynamites in the middle school building under Pirtant police station and blasted the building.

The security forces used the four-roomed school as shelter for four days during their anti-Naxal operation last week.

This was the 15th government structure to be destroyed by the Naxalites in five districts for housing security personnel, on anti-Naxal raid, during the last one month. In another development villagers spotted Naxal posters asking people to stay away from voting in the Giridhi Lok Sabha constituency area.

The constituency, having a strong Naxal presence, goes to polls along with seven other seats in the second phase polling.
