People's Democratic Party state general secretary Yash Pal Sharma on Wednesday accused the National Conference-Congress alliance of cheating the refugees.

Addressing public meetings in RS Pura, Sharma said that a chunk of refugee population living in the border belts of RS Pura has been denied basic amenities like food, water and power supply for the last 60 years.

"Thousands of refugees living in the border areas are struggling for their permanent rehabilitation in the state but NC-Congress government just played political gimmicks and did not find a solution to their long pending demands," said Sharma.

On the rising graph of unemployment in the constituency, Sharma said youths in numbers are shifting to foreign countries from the RS Pura constituency in search of better job options after being denied justice by the ruling coalition. The migration has become a threat on the sex-ratio in the border belt, he said, adding that the government did not take this issue seriously.

Sharma said PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has promised to establish a research centre for the development of better quality Basmati rice to improve its. Basohli's basmati rice is exported to foreign countries from Delhi, Sharma added.
