The National Conference on Friday asked the Election Commission to postpone the forthcoming assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir in view of the season's early snowfall in the Valley.

In a statement, NC President Omar Abdullah said that the elections need to be postponed as it would be difficult to campaign in the state due to the weather conditions.

He urged the EC to take note of the weather conditions and reschedule the polls.
"The candidates need to approach the electorate but with this kind of early snowfall it is not possible to campaign," Abdullah said.
The city has experienced nearly three-inches of snow forcing people to remain indoors.
