NCP leader held for abducting and assaulting a constable

The city police arrested three persons including chief of Nagpur unit of Nationalist Vidyarthi Congress for allegedly abducting and assaulting a constable when he asked to close their restaurant on Wednesday midnight. Pradip Kumar Maitra reports.

The city police arrested three persons, including Vishal Larokar (26), chief of Nagpur unit of Nationalist Vidyarthi Congress, a frontal organization of NCP students’ wing, for allegedly abducting and assaulting a constable when he asked to close their restaurant on Wednesday midnight.

According to the police, Larokar, a close lieutenant of city NCP chief Ajay Patil, runs a restaurant on Hingna Road, along with his brothers. While patrolling in the area, police constable of Rana Pratap Nagar, Khemraj Shinwar (42), found that the restaurant was functioning on Wednesday midnight.

He immediately told Larokar brothers to close the restaurant as every eateries in Nagpur should close by 11pm as per a notification issued by the commissioner of police. But pampered by the chief NCP president, Ajay Patil, who is very close to the Maharashtra home minister, RR Patil, Larokar began altercation with the constable and dared him to take whatever action he wished to take.

According to Shinwar, Larokar, his brother Jagdish and one Ujwal Khicchi picked up a quarrel with him and hurled abuses. When the constable protested, he was beaten up black and blue shoved into a car and they left for an unknown place.

Investigation officer MD Pagare of Rana Pratap Nagar informed that the police have arrested all the three persons and produced before the local court where all of them were released on bail. The police have booked all the three persons under sections of 353, 363, 332, 506, 294 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
