“I had courted arrest and had refused bail yesterday. The dumping ground is illegal and I will file a complaint against the Mayor and the civic body chief for not shutting it down,” said Awhad.

“They should use the dumping ground at Kanjur Marg and all these remarks of opposition by the department of environment are just false,” he said.

Awhad said he decided to come out of the jail after having a talk with the Minister of State for Urban Development Hasan Mushrif.

Mushrif visited the dumping ground near Hari Om Nagar on Thursday and has promised to hold a meeting with the officials of BMC and Thane Municipal Corporation within eight days and find a solution to the dumping ground problem within a month.
