NCP workers attack party office in Pune

The incident occurs in the afternoon when party leader minister Ajit Pawar is inside his cabin at the Baramati hostel, reports Yogesh Joshi.

The last moment announcement of list of party candidates in Pune with some being denied the party ticket for the municipal corporation polls, left many NCP leaders and their supporters angry, leading to chaos and violence at party president Sharad Pawar's office- Baramati hostel, on Monday. Angry over the denial of party ticket for the Pune Municipal Corporation elections, supporters of NCP ticket aspirant Sachin Dodake went on rampage, smashing window panes and causing damage to some furniture at Baramati hostel, situated near Patrakar nagar.

The incident occurred in the afternoon when party leader and district guardian minister Ajit Pawar was inside his cabin at the Baramati hostel, while Sharad Pawar was in Delhi. Disgruntled over the breach of promise, Dodake demanded meeting with Pawar. However when he along with his supporters were denied the meeting with the Pawar, four to five supporters of Dodake, went on rampage and attacked the room situated on the first floor of the Baramati hostel, said police. NCP leaders later said that after the attack, Pawar left the office.

Deputy commissioner of Police Chandrashekhar Daithankar told the Hindustan Times that, "We have detained three persons including Dodake for creating violence at Baramati hostel. The action, police have taken was on suo motto basis since their was no complaint from either Pawar's office or from party office bearers."

Meanwhile commotion also prevailed at Bharatiya Janata Party office in Kasba Peth area after ticket was denied to one of the senior party leader Anil Shirole. Shirole's name was removed from the list at the last moment, following which his supporters became angry and indulged in arguement with other party leaders.
