ND Tiwari quits as Uttaranchal CM

The veteran Cong leader said he had turned 81 and no person of his age was serving as Chief Minister in the country.

Uttaranchal Chief Minister N D Tiwari on Saturday quit from the post and has sent his resignation to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

"I have turned 81 and no person of my age is serving as Chief Minister in the country," Tiwari told reporters adding he wanted to quit politics but would continue to participate in social life.

He said he had requested the party president to relieve him from office within a month.
