A group of five independent MLAs, whose support is crucial for survival of the BJP-led NDA government in Jharkhand, on Saturday threatened to review their support in the wake of Assembly Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari charging state home minister Sudesh Mahto with inducting "criminals" in his All-Jharkhand Students Union.

"It is unfortunate that NDA allies are forgetting coalition politics. We cannot tolerate outrageous charges against an NDA ally by another NDA ally," said independent MLA Madhu Kora.

Kora, spokesman of the five independent MLAs known as the G-five, said the group would meet Chief Minister Arjun Munda as soon as the latter returned from New Delhi.

"We are supporting the NDA and not the JD(U)," Kora said reacting to JD(U) state unit president Jaleswar Mahto's statement that the JD(U) was firmly behind the Speaker in his "legitimate battle" against the home minister.

Jaleswar Mahto, also a minister in the Munda cabinet, on Friday told a press conference that Namdhari had the backing of the party in opposing Sudesh Mahto's "abuse of power", triggering a meeting of the G-five at Kora's residence yesterday.
