In an obvious reference to statements made by opposition parties, including Congress, regarding formation of a non-BJP government at the Centre after the elections, Banerjee said "Many parties are doing calculations now. But NDA under Vajpayeeji will return to power."

Banerjee, who had in the past severed ties with NDA and rejoined it subsequently, said in an interview to a Bengali TV channel that her party has full faith in Vajpayee's leadership.

"We want Vajpayeeji to be the prime minister again. We had also rejoined the Union cabinet at his request," she said.

Asked if her party would join the government if NDA came back to power, she said, "We will join. We have mentioned this in our manifesto".

Banerjee, who often alleges electoral fraud by CPI(M) in West Bengal, said the results in this poll would be favaourable to her party if the election was free and fair.

She said her party has full confidence in the Election Commission. "We hope the EC will do something".
