Nehru Enclave grabbers refuse to go, LDA silent

Nehru Enclave continues to be a festering sore for its residents, thanks to the presence of anti-socials, who along with dozens of defaulters, continue to remain as safely and illegally ensconced in the flats of the colony as ever.

And who can dare touch them given the kind of political patronage that some of these student leaders-cum-mafia don enjoy in the present regime. Not surprising therefore not only the LDA but even the mandarins of the housing department in Bapu Bhawan are also maintaining a stoic silence on the issue. In the first week of May, secretary housing, had shot off a missive to the LDA seeking a status report on the illegal occupants in the Enclave including its own employees/engineers, who had illegal grabbed flats in the colony.

The report along with the names of those LDA employees/engineers was promptly dispatched by the LDA to secretary housing over the next week but the issue seems to have been swept under the carpet. While secretary, housing, KL Meena was not available for comments, officials of the property section in LDA squirmed uncomfortably in their seat when asked why they were taking no action against illegal occupants and defaulters even after the deadline. The LDA had given time till June 15 to the defaulters to pay up their dues or else there allotment would be cancelled.

By LDA's own admission, 124 flats in the Enclave are still under the possession of illegal occupants. Likewise, the colony still has 119 defaulters. This include 44 in Rupayan type flats, 34 in Pushpayan, 30 in Premayan and 11 in Vatayan flats.
