Nepal to soon get interim Constitution: report

Premier Koirala and Maoist chief Prachanda said that an interim Constitution should be promulgated by the first week of January.

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Maoist leader Prachanda have agreed on an early new interim Constitution and constituent assembly election by June 2007, The Rising Nepal said on Monday.

Koirala and Prachanda came to an agreement at their talks here Sunday. They said that an interim Constitution should be promulgated by the first week of January.

"We have no disputes and we will move ahead by building consensus," Nepali Congress member Shekhar Koirala was quoted as saying.

CPN leader Baburam Bhattarai, Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Shekhar Koirala were also present at the meeting.
