NER guards issue strike threat

GIVING A 48-hour ultimatum to the railway administration to punish the errant RPF jawans involved in thrashing a railway guard, the guards of NE Railway Gorakhpur handed over a memorandum to the SP Railway and said if the accused were not suspended, they would go on strike and the movement of trains would be hit.

GIVING A 48-hour ultimatum to the railway administration to punish the errant RPF jawans involved in thrashing a railway guard, the guards of NE Railway Gorakhpur handed over a memorandum to the SP Railway and said if the accused were not suspended, they would go on strike and the movement of trains would be hit.

In the delegation, guards Barauni, Sonpur, Muzaffarpur, Gonda and Basti expressed their anger before SP GRP and said the suspension of the RPF jawans was a must to pacify the guards. They said if they did not get justice they would resort to strike.

Meanwhile, the GRP have registered a case against the RPF squad members on the written complaints of Udai Shanker Singh. The GRP have registered a case under Section 323, 427 and 504. However, no arrest had been made till filing of the report. The members of All India Guard Council convened a meeting and strongly condemned the incident.

Members of the council Rajiv Ranjan, Narendra Sharma, Anjani Kumar, VV Mall, Mahatam Prasad, VK Srivastav, GVM Tripathi and secretary Nasimur Rehman said the guards of NER and other railways had threatened to go on strike if the errant RPF jawans were not punished.
