NER registers 5.2 pc growth in income

It is noteworthy that general manager NER Sukhbir Singh launched various programmes to check the losses, to curtail the expenditure as well as focus on income. The efforts have so far produced desirable result.
GM NER has directed the subordinate officials to switch-off diesel engine in case of stay for more than 30 minutes. He has introduced a programme for the training of diesel engine drivers. These efforts had yielded results, as department purchased 6000 kilolitre less diesel in comparison to the corresponding period in previous year and saved Rs 18 crore expenditure on diesel.
The press release mentioned that NER had started six pairs of specials between Gorakhpur to Bangalore and had increased 10 sleeper coaches, one A-C coach and three SLR coaches in these trains.
According to railway sources, 0502 Gorakhpur-Yashwantpur (Bangalore) train would leave from Gorakhpur on November 27 and it would run from Gorakhpur on December 4, 11, 18 and 25. Similarly the train 0501 from Yashwantpur to Gorakhpur would also run between Gorakhpur and Bangalore.
The department has planned to introduce 12 trains from Lokmanya Tilak to Gorakhpur from December 1 to 28. Railway sources claimed that department attached 48 per cent new coaches in various trains in comparison to the last year and registered 41 per cent increase in the income.
The department claimed that the sanitation condition of the trains running on NER route has improved.
