New member on AI board

Yusuff Ali M.A., a Dubai-based expatriate businessman and Padma awardee, would be the fifth independent board member of Air India. The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has cleared his name, senior civil aviation ministry officials told HT. “Clearance for Ali took time as he is based abroad,” an official said.

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has cleared his name, senior civil aviation ministry officials told HT. “Clearance for Ali took time as he is based abroad,” an official said.

Ali, who hails from Kerala, is the managing director of Emke Group of Companies, which has its corporate office in Abu Dhabi. EMKE runs a chain of shopping malls, LuLu hypermarkets, supermarkets and department stores.
