The Deepa Mehta directed Water hasn't yet released in India, but the film's producers are already in the country for their next venture. This time round, acclaimed cinematographer and filmmaker Santosh Sivan will direct Rahul Bose and Nandita Das in an untitled film.
When called for some details on the movie, Bose said, "It's an independent film being produced by Echo Lake Productions, who produced Water." Echo Lake has also produced the Billy Bob Thornton, Morgan Freeman, Holly Hunter and Kirsten Dunst starrer Levity, besides others.

"Besides myself and Nandita, the film will also star two actors from the UK, whose names will be announced by the producers themselves. The film is set against the backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle. It's a wonderful story written by Cathy Rabin revolving around three people - myself, Nandita and a British actor," he revealed. On being probed further, he added, "It's a fantastic story about these three people, connected by the prevalent circumstances. Besides, there are some scenes where I speak Malayalam, so that's also one reason I'm very charged about it. It's set in Kerala in 1937 but it's not centred around the freedom struggle."
Though this is first film with the producers, Bose has worked with both Sivan and Das before. While Sivan shot Silsilay, Das played the protagonist in Ek Din 24 Hours. "I got to meet Santosh while working on Silsilay and we did talk of working together again, as soon as there was an apt subject. As for Nandita, I played a small part in Ek Din, as the film revolved around her. So I do share a good rapport with them. We've begun shooting the film. I can't tell you how enthusiastic I am about it," he said speaking from Kerala.
First though is his latest release 15 Park Avenue directed by Aparna Sen and co-starring Konkana Sen Sharma, both of who he previously worked with in Mr and Mrs Iyer.
