Giving this information to mediapersons here on Friday, National president of the newly formed party, Bhishmadhar Dwivedi said, his party was registered with the Election Office on March 1, 2006.

“Since all political parties of country failed to ensure the development of eastern part of UP, it was the need of the hour to form a new political party to ensure its proper development”, he said. He demanded a separate State, Purvanchal, for the proper development of this part. He said that the total population of UP was 17-crore whereas the population of wastern parts of State including 27 districts was about 7 crore as per census report of 2001.

Dwivedi said, the population of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab was about 60 lakh and 3 crore, respectively. “Therefore with a population of 7 crore in eastern part of UP, why this part of UP could not be declared as a separate State,” he said.

Dwivedi said his party demanded declaration of a separate state, Purvanchal, for the development of eastern UP, development of film city and inclusion of Bhojpuri language in the 8th scheduled.
