While talking to mediapersons, Raj Babbar demanded that the State government should issue a white paper regarding its claim of investing Rs 7200 crore in the State. He claimed that the Mulayam Singh Yadav- led government was acquiring precious land from farmers for the benefit of capitalists. Agriculture land of farmers was acquired in Dadri on token money and allotted to private companies for development of an electricity plant. However, he said the State government had not signed any agreement with the company that Uttar Pradesh would get electricity at Rs 2 per unit from this plant.

Responding to a question, Babbar said political parties were avoiding social issues while Jan Morcha was raising these issues and getting overwhelming support from people across the State. He said Jan Morcha had forged alliance with smaller groups and they would contest the election under the umbrella organisation of Jan Morcha. This had increased the concern of various political parties, he said.

Babbar said in the last 10 years, 80000 businessmen became millionaire. Contrary to this around 1.10 lakh farmer had committed suicide so far but the government was not paying any attention to the farmers’ plight.

Accusing the State government of misleading people on electricity supply, Babbar said the State government was promising to supply electricity to weavers on subsidised rate but the ground reality was adverse. The promise to provide electricity at subsidised rate was only an election gimmick, Babbar claimed.

Criticising the unemployment allowance, he said the government was treating youths as beggars and called upon the youths to give a befitting reply to this attitude. In reply to a question, he said he respected MP and film star Jaya Bachchan and would not make any comment regarding her.
