A Kolkata-based NGO has written to the Delhi police commissioner BS Bassi requesting him to register an FIR against former Supreme Court judge justice AK Ganguly in the case of alleged sexual harassment of a law intern.

“We call upon you to register an FIR in the matter. We are concerned that this being a high-profile case, witnesses or victim can be influenced or coerced and evidences can be tampered with,” read the letter by NGO Bharat Bachao Sangathan.

The NGO also wrote to Delhi’s parliament street police station under which the jurisdiction of Le Meridien hotel falls, where the alleged incident took place in December, 2012.

Demanding that the police should take steps for fair investigation, the letter said the police must take control of all evidence, including CCTV footage from the hotel.

The NGO’s president Vineet Ruia said that a rally would be taken out on December 10 —Human Rights Day — here demanding the arrest of Ganguly, who is also the chairman of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission.
