Work on nearly eight flyovers has been on halt from the past several months.

The service roads and several approach roads have also not been laid, leading to traffic snarls between Manesar and Dharuhera.

Construction work of the 225-km length of the expressway between Gurgaon and Jaipur was assigned to the Pink City Expressway Private Limited (PCEPL) in 2008.

The deadline was fixed for October 2011.

The total cost of the project was estimated at R1,896 crore with 44 flyovers and eight underpasses, besides service and approach roads.

While PCEPL officials were unavailable for comments, the National Highway Authority of India blamed the Gurgaon administration for the delay in the construction of the flyover.

“The administration has to acquire 16-17 acres of land from residents but it has not happened till date. We’ve spoken to the local authority to transfer land at the earliest,” said PR Patelia, regional officer (RO), NHAI.

“The DC will return on Tuesday. We will decide our future course of action after the meeting,” said Om Prakash, a resident of Manesar.
