Now, a car owner will have to pay Rs 21 each time to cross Delhi border toll plaza.

Earlier, the rate was Rs 16. The new rates will be effective from March 31 midnight.

Likewise, toll rate at Kherki Daula toll plaza near Haldiram food outlet at 42nd milestone has reached Rs 27 from Rs 25. The new rate for those crossing Indira Gandhi International Airport toll plaza is Rs 14 per trip. Earlier, it was Rs 13 per trip.

According to National Highway Authority of India officials, the revision of toll rates is a mandatory annual exercise, as part of the concessionaire agreement reached with the concessionaire company Jaypee-DSC, which constructed the Gurgaon Expressway on BOT (build, operate and transfer) basis at Rs 800 crore.

According to NHAI officials, over 2 lakh vehicles cross these three toll plazas on Gurgaon expressway everyday.
