The National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the Burdwan blast has reached the capital after it was found that Amjad Ali, one of the prime suspects in the case, fled to Delhi on October 8 before escaping to Uttar Pradesh, sources said.

The NIA identified Sajid as the chief of the Burdwan module and has placed a bounty on Rs 10 lakh on him. They also released sketches or photos of the 11 others accused in the case.

“Amjad Ali alias Kajol used to procure chemicals for his Jammat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh associates to manufacture improvised explosive devices. He was staying in Kolkata, but after the accidental blast he came to Delhi on October 8. It is believed he later moved to Uttar Pradesh,” said a source.

A counter-terror official added that some operatives are on the run with their wives and kids, which may make their escape difficult to sustain.
