As a handy left-arm spin bowler and a useful lower-order batsman, Boje has earned a reputation as a decent all-rounder.

Despite making his one-day debut for South Africa back in 1995, it took the Free State player some time to earn a regular place in the team.

He was chosen for the 1999 World Cup squad, but it was not until the following year in the second Test against England that "Bodge" really managed to shine.

Now he is South Africa's frontline spinner, renowned as a miserly container of batsmen. In the last three years, he has got two four-wicket hauls and best figures of 5-21.

During the tour of New Zealand in 2003-04 he had a big role to play in the final Test, when his eight-wicket haul helped his team to a series-levelling win and further established him to be a player to be reckoned.

His batting ability remains untarnished as he can be a hard-hitter with the bat. His highest score with the bat is 129, which he scored against New Zealand in 2000.
