MIRRORS

Here’s another cockamamie remake, this time of the 2003 South Korean chiller Into the Mirror. Once again, everything from the ludicrous screenplay to the mix of gore, psycho-babble and yucky special effects, fails completely.

We are expected to sympathise with the plight of a New York policeman-turned-security guard. He has to grapple with a malevolent force lurking behind the mirrors of a burned-out department store. A fire has ravaged an entire high-rise but all the ornate mirrors seem to have been spared. Go figure.
There is a sudden shift to Pennsylvania to encounter a former child schizophrenic now cloistered in a monastery.
The extended climax is likely to induce even chronic insomniacs into deep slumber.
Unintentionally funny at times, the narrative is cluttered with cringe-worthy dialogue as well as an extra-busy background music score.
See this nightmarish nonsense at your own peril.
