Nimbus on Tuesday welcomed the Delhi High Court order that asked the company to provide feed of the India-West Indies cricket series to Doordarshan with a seven-minute delay as a "step in the right direction".

"We welcome the court order and look forward to working with Doordarshan," Nimbus Chairman Harish Thawani said from Mumbai, in the company's first reaction after the court verdict.

Thawani said, "Though still some issues remain, the landmark direction strikes a balance between commercial interests and public interest".

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed public broadcaster Prasar Bharati to show live telecast of the cricket series on DD, but allowed rights holder Nimbus to delay the feed by seven minutes.

Asked if the interim order takes care of their demand on encryption of DD channel, Thawani said Nimbus will raise the matter during the next hearing on February 8.

"We will take up this matter on February 8 when we present our case further to the court," Thawani said.
