Nine sub-inspectors have been selected to be appointed as Station Officers (SO). The selection was made on the basis of interviews based on the intelligence aptitude of the incumbents. The interview was taken by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ashutosh Pandey. At least 85 sub-inspectors had visited the camp of the SSP throughout the day on Saturday. The list of successful candidates was finalised late in the evening.

The selected sub-inspectors would replace those SOs, who failed to check crime and nab rewarded and absconding notorious criminals in their respective areas.
With an objective to check crime, the SSP had invited interested sub-inspectors of the district for the interview.
Personally interacting with each sub-inspector, he asked them how questions like how much information they had about criminals of their areas and what sort of action they had initiated against criminals earlier.
Many aged sub-inspectors, who had just three years of active service left, also appeared for the interview. However, for such incumbents the SSP had made a criterion. With so little time left towards their retirement, no sub-inspector of this category could be appointed an SO.
The selected sub-inspectors include Kapil Deo Tripathi, Jagdhari Choudhry, Prashant Kumar, Shiva Nand Mishra, Samarjeet Singh, Ajay Singh, Nirbhay Kumar Singh, Amresh Singh and Shyam Bahadur Yadav.
Meanwhile, the SSP has given an ultimatum till June 15 to station officers of Mirzamurad, Sarnath, Luxa and Manduadeeh to improve their performance in controlling crime failing which they would be removed from their present charge.
