For residents of Nirvana Country, peace and stability still remain elusive. The gated colony has been facing the developer’s apathy for the past two years after people were allegedly forced to shift in their apartments without any basic facilities.
“The project was to be completed three years back but two towers are still incomplete. The developer (Unitech) has also increased the maintenance charges to Rs 2 per square yard without providing any facilities,” said Brig. SP Mehla, president of Close North Nirvana RWA.
The colony lacks proper maintenance that reflects in the poor state of lawns, lifts and security. “We have frequent cases of break-ins and thefts in the society and no action is taken despite regular complaints,” Mehla added.
Moreover, the 400 families that reside here have stopped parking their vehicles in the basement (level 2 parking) as continuous seepage has damaged the floor.
“Though all residents were charged Rs 2 lakh per parking, this is the state of affairs. Some residents have now bought surface parking worth Rs 1 lakh per parking that was actually meant for visitors,” a resident said.
Other issues bothering residents include no license for the swimming pool in the club, absence of proper electricity and water connection, no transparency in the working of Unitech, no space for an RWA office and the practice of leasing out parking spaces to shops.
