Eight-year-old Aarti went missing on 25 September 2006. After human reamains were recovered from the D-5 residence of Moninder Singh Pandher, a skull was sent for DNA analysis, which matched with that of Aarti's parents.

A court has already announced a verdict in the murder of Rimpa Halder. The CBI, in Aarti's murder case, filed a chargesheet only against Surinder Koli, under sections 302 (murder), 364 (abduction), 376 (rape) and 201 (destruction of evidence) and left out Pandher.

The CBI presented around 46 witnesses in 113 days of hearing.
