After removing him from power, the NDA government in Bihar is set to bowl out RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav as president of Bihar Cricket Association by bringing out an ordinance permitting only sport bodies recognised by the state government to seek affiliation with national associations.
The coming into force of the ordinance would mean that Lalu-headed BCA's chance of getting affiliation with the BCCI would be doomed.
Highly placed sources in the department of Sports and Culture told PTI today on condition of anonymity that the government was contemplating bringing an ordinance to "streamline" sports activities in the state.
The ordinance, sources said, would ensure that sporting bodies recognised by the state government alone organised sporting events and those conducting such competitions without recognition would be liable to imprisonment upto six months.
Such a law existed in BJP-ruled states of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, the sources said.
If everything goes well, the ordinance would see the light of the day before June one, they said.
