Kumar had prevented the CBI from filing a charge sheet against him in the Fodder Scam when he was 'a powerful minister' in the NDA government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Bihar Congress Chief Anil Kumar Sharma alleged at a press conference here.

"The two kingpins of the multi-crore rupee fraud --Shyam Bihari Sinha and Umesh Kumar Singh in a statement recorded by them before a magistrate under section 164 of the CRPC charged Nitish Kumar with taking a bribe of Rs one crore at the time of elections long back," he said.

He said that it was the duty of the Bihar government and Kumar to request the Centre to assign the CBI to reinvestigate the case and also the charge of bribery against him.

Kumar is at present in Delhi.
