NN scrap auction: Bhai?s men befool bidders

The mafiA may not be present but his word is order. No body can go against his wishes. And if any one dares he will have to pay a heavy price. This was evident at the scrap auction carried out by the Nagar Nigam at its workshop on Leader Road on Thursday. About 100 bidders who had come from many districts found themselves a disappointed lot when they realised that "Bhai's men" who had stormed the place had spread a word that nobody should make any attempt to bid for the scrap.

Sources said, initially Bhai's men spread a message that after their own bid gets final they would generously give away small amounts as profit to all those who had come in the hope of bidding for the scrap. But in reality it was just a ploy to hold back the bidders. And the same happened in the end. Bhai's men asked the bidders to get going as they were in no mood to give a penny to any of them.

What is more frustrating for him is the fact that he had pinned his hope on marrying away his daughter with the profit he would have earned in case he had succeeded in taking the scrap. But that was not to be . The mafiosi's men hijacked the show in a planned manner.

In sharp contrast, the Nagar Nigam officials appeared only too happy after getting their accumulated scrap disposed off.

The bidding according to them went well and they made a few lakhs as profit. For us it was good riddance from bad rubbish. The scrap had been accumulating for the past more than 13 years and had been occupying a lot of space, said a Nigam official.
