Charlize Theron has slammed claims that she has chosen an unattractive role in her new movie North County in an effort to boost her chance of winning another Academy Award after Monster in 2004.

According to contactmusic.com, Theron had gained considerable weight to play the serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster. She went the unglamorous way again in North County to play a female miner.
Theron is angry she has been accused to angling for an Oscar. She says: "That's nonsense. It was necessary to change my looks for North County, because mine workers really don't look chic.
"When beautiful women change her looks for a movie - like Nicole Kidman in The Hours or Halle Berry in Monster's Ball - that has nothing to do with calculation. It is the job of an actress to play other people."
