Following opening of the technical and financial bids two weeks ago, the Evaluation Committee headed by Principal Secretary (Energy) had recommended the name of Lanco Kondapalli, a private company, for giving the contract. The company had quoted the lowest power tariff followed by Reliance Energy Ltd and Essar Power. The recommendation is to be ratified by the Utpadan Nigam Board.

Nigam CMD Avnish Awasthi said that no decision could be taken at the Board meeting because some directors had sought more details about the proposed project. He said the Board might take a final decision at its next meeting, the date of which was yet to be decided. The Board decision would be sent to the government for approval. On the other hand, the power employees staged a demonstration and held a protest meeting at the gate of main gate of Anpara thermal powerhouse today to oppose privatisation of Anpara C project.

Sangharsh Samiti leader Shailendra Dubey said the agitation would continue till the State government rolled back the privatisation of the project. He also said that the employees had resolved not to allow any private company to even enter Anpara.
