The security forces have increased the anti-insurgency operations in the district and have been able to eliminate almost all LeT cadres. Now only 24 Hizbul Mujahiddin (HM) militants with couple of local LeT militants are active in the district.

"LeT has almost been wiped out from the district and killing of two LeT commanders on Wednesday has given a big jolt to this militant outfit in the district," said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda Prabhat Singh.

"When I joined as SSP Doda in 2008, there were almost 27 foreign militants active in the district but after that most of them have been eliminated and rest have fled back," SSP Singh added.

Now, around 24 HM militants are active in the district and who are involved in the terror activities. The aggressive attitude of security forces have pushed back militants in the district who are now searching ways for the survival and are avoiding in coming direct contact with the forces.

"The reasons behind the survival of Khandey in the district from past 19 years are that he is not communicating with any body and is not using any communication system. They day he opt any such medium he will also be eliminated," said SSP Doda, adding, "But still we are trying to trap him and we have mobilized our all resources to get information about him."

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Jammu zone Ashok Kumar Gupta said, "We are getting more information about these militants and have increasing our operations as well."

To assess the situation in the district, IGP Jammu zone himself is visiting the district.
