The organizers of the Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix said Thursday they had abandoned plans to hold a 2011 race after controversy on rescheduling the event.

"Whilst Bahrain would have been delighted to see the Grand Prix progress on October 30th in-line with the World Motor Sport Council's decision, it has been made clear that this fixture cannot progress and we fully respect that decision," Bahrain International Circuit chairman Zayed R Alzayani said in a statement.
"Bahrain has absolutely no desire to see a race which would further extend the calendar season detract from the enjoyment of F1 for either drivers, teams or supporters," he said.
Bahrain lifted a state of emergency imposed in mid-March when it crushed month-long protests in a crackdown which left 30 dead.
No change for IndiaNew Delhi: India will not be affected by the flip-flop over Bahrain that led to the dates of the inaugural Grand Prix being swapped twice within a week, a top official said Friday.
Bahrain's latest statement means India are back to hosting the event in October.
When aksed to comment Vicky Chandhok, president of Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) said, "we were always working with the presumption that Delhi race will be held in October because we never received any communication from FIA about shifting the race to December."
