SHE IS bold. She is beautiful, but she doesn’t want to talk about Nepal.
Manisha is almost ready to walk out, if you insist on talking about some ‘home’ truths.

Manisha Koirala, an acclaimed actor and granddaughter of ‘soon to be’ new Prime Minister of Nepal Girija Prasad Koirala, was in the political capital of India, but carefully avoided talking politics.
“Yes! Talk about anything else,” says Manisha. Well, the ‘anything else’ most definitely includes her much talked about upcoming film Anwar, which is based on communal divide, love and much more. “Anwar is a beautiful movie where I am playing the character of a journalist. I have come across so many journalists in my life so I somehow knew what the character would be like,” says Manisha.
Talking further about journalists, she says, “There are all kinds of journalists in the country. Some are good while the others are bad. But luckily I have come across the good ones in life. The 90% of them that I have met were very good but the rest 10% were very nasty.”
So where was Manisha all these years? “Well, I was off to New York to study film making at New York University (NYU) for two years. Also I wanted to be selective about the kind of work I undertake and do films that represent me well. I want to do decent roles now. Apart from this I just want to relax now. I am at a point where I can do only those films that appeal me and those films that appeal my senses,” says Manisha.
Talking about her experience at NYU she says, “I learnt to do things on my own there. We ‘celebs’ in India get spoilt due to all the pampering we get and forget to do things on our own. However, at NYU I had to do everything on my own.

She says, “When I first began, I was an atheist- a completely logic oriented person. But gradually I turned into an agnostic where I questioned things and then I reached a stage where I could either become An believer or a non believer. And I chose to be a believer.”
