What the Haryana government or the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) couldn’t provide, some organisations in Gurgaon have offered.
Forget the feeder buses, you have options of green cycles and battery operated eco-friendly electronic rickshaws to commute to and from the soon-to-open metro stations in Gurgaon.
Sanjay Kaushik, president of Uthaan, an NGO, has already achieved in-principle approval from the district administration to launch green feeder service including cycles and battery-operated rickshaws to reach Metro stations.
“We have offered the DMRC to park green-coloured cycles at all the five metro stations and also ply battery-operated e-rickshaws for the commuters in Gurgaon. Each station would have 20 bicycles to begin with. We have asked the DMRC for parking space," he added.
He said a number of corporates including Punj Lloyd and Wipro as well as condominiums have agreed to arrange for cycles at their premises for metro users.
Delhi Cycles Private Limited that offered 30 green cycles at Rohini East Metro stations recently also plans to start the same service in Gurgaon.
Delhi-based organisation Incredible Group has also sought permission from the Haryana transportation department to ply battery-operated rickshaws.
