No new plans, Oneworld to wait for KFA

Global airline alliance, Oneworld, is not looking at new partners in India and would wait for the debt-strapped Kingfisher Airlines (KFA), whose plans of joining the alliance are still very much on, said CEO Bruce Ashby. HT reports.

“I am reluctant to set time lines,” he said when asked if the alliance had set a deadline for KFA’s entry. “The pressure is not internal to KFA. It comes from many external factors so timelines, in a way are a bit false here. We are just being patient and taking our time.”

“Airlines do go through severe dips in their fortunes for a period of time. Airlines are sensitive to a lot of things around them from fuel prices to government action. It is not actually all that unusual for an airline to go through restructuring. Japan Airline which is now announcing profits after having a particularly bad time. We are hopeful it works out. I wish it was not normal yes it is certainly not all that rare,” he added.
