Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq believes that leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has improved a lot during the South Africa series but ruled out a place for him in the one-day team at the moment.

Inzamam said Kaneria has the potential to take 500 Test wickets but does not fit into the one-day squad because the requirements of the shorter version of the game are different.

"Kaneria bowled really well but he was unlucky not to get more wickets. I think he has improved a lot in the last two Tests. Mushtaq (Ahmed) has worked a lot with him on his run-up and bowling and Kaneria is a very quick learner," Inzamam told Geo Television.

"He has the capability to take 500 wickets and is a very good bowler," the captain said about Kaneria who has 198 wickets in 46 Tests.

The leg-spinner finished with 15 wickets in the three-match series but suffered from dropped catches and stumpings missed by wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal.

"I think cricket has also changed now and although he is a very good leg-spinner the requirements of one-day cricket are different," Inzamam added.

Inzamam was all praise for Mohammad Asif, who took 19 wickets in the series, and said the pacer was a revelation.
