Quashing speculation that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) may invite India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to watch a match in the India-Pakistan cricket series, an official said there was no such plan.
"It is all speculation about the Indian Prime Minister's visit to Rawalpindi. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) cannot on its own send an invitation to any Indian government official to come and watch a match," The News newspaper quoted a PCB official as saying Saturday.
"We have to do this through the government channels and so far we have no plans of sending any invitation.
"If the Pakistan government wants to invite any Indian government official for any match, it has the itinerary and can do it but we are not authorised to do anything directly."
The official said the PCB would welcome the Indian Prime Minister's visit, as it would be another step towards speeding up the peace process between the two countries.
"But our government takes such decisions. If we are asked to do something we will do it," he added.
