The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will contest all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh alone, said party senior leader and parliament member SC Mishra. “Behenji (BSP leader Mayawati) is very clear that there will be no alliance with any party. The BSP has started preparations to contest all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh,” Mishra said.
Mayawati will address a rally of party workers on January 15 – her birthday – in Lucknow where the BSP’s political line for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls is likely to be spelt out. “Since so much of speculative reporting has been done on this so-called alliance talks between Congress and BSP, I am sure behenji will clarify that the party will contest alone in the elections,” Mishra said.
He denied reports that he had met Congress president Sonia Gandhi or that Congress general secretary Madhusudhan Mistry had met Mayawati. “All these reports are purely imaginative. No meeting has happened, and there will be no alliance,” he said.
Mishra said what happens after the elections will be decided according to the situation then. “What I can say now is that the BSP will have no pre-poll alliance with any party.
The BSP leader dismissed reports that suggest a BJP surge in the UP. “The BJP was fighting among themselves on who would become the CM of UP in 2012. And you know where they ended up,” he said, adding that the saffron party’s chances in the crucial state of UP is as bleak as the Samajwadi Party’s.

“Forget riots, there was not even a skirmish in the state when behenji was the chief minister. Look at the pathetic situation now,” he said, about the SP government led by Akhilesh Yadav.
