No problem with M F Husain’s return: RSS chief

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Thursday said his organization wouldn’t oppose if the noted painter M F Husain, who is living in exile in the Mideast since 2006, wants to come back to his country. Ramesh Babu reports.

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Thursday said his organization wouldn’t oppose if the noted painter M F Husain, who is living in exile in the middle-east since 2006, wants to come back to his country.

“If he would have apologized for hurting the sentiments of a section of the people we have no problem. We will neither oppose nor welcome his return,” he said at a meet the press programme here.

There are reports that the 95-year-old painter has been granted nationality by Qatar, a middle-east country. After portraying Hindu goddess Saraswati in nude he had fled the country fearing physical threats. Though he had offered apology it failed to convince those who started a campaign against him.

In one of the interviews recently he expressed his desire to return and die in the country of his origin.
