The Kings XI Punjab are in the news for the wrong reasons this time. In the first edition of the Indian Premier League, they were in the semifinals and ran the opposition close before losing. This time around, unless a major miracle happens, they are out of the reckoning and can only play spoilers for teams like the Royal Challengers who are looking to get into the semis.
The Challengers, having begun well, have lost two back-to-back games and that will add to the pressure when they play the Kings XI. They know that the Kings XI, smarting from all the criticism and a split in the dressing room, will be looking to prove a lot of people wrong. A wounded team is dangerous and the 'Punjab puttars' may just be in the mood to slap a few.
The target, as expected, is Yuvraj Singh who hasn't been his usual sparkling self. Some say he is sulking after being sacked as skipper and, therefore, not giving it everything. People who talk like this must remember that there is something called personal pride and however upset a player is with his treatment he is not going to cut his own feet by deliberately playing badly.
Moreover, it is not only Yuvraj but others too who have not been in the thick of runs. So, there's no reason to single him out for the mediocre performance of the team. There is no such thing as a one-man team and everybody chips in some way or the other.
