The clarification came after the Hindustan Times on Sunday published a report on acute shortage of LPG cylinders.

“I have no idea as there is no dearth of LPG cylinders in the city. I have never been informed by any consumer about black marketing,” said Bijender Singh, district food and supply controller. “Some consumers use two or more cylinders against one sanctioned. In that case, they will be forced to shell out more for extra cylinders and that might be prompting black marketing,” said Singh.

However, consumers refused to buy his claims stating that the delivery system is faulty and consumers are compelled to wait for days to get cylinders.

“Authorities cannot rule out black marketing and their argument is without any merit,” said Sanjiv Saxena, a consumer.
