The project, which was launched in August, 2011, had been a huge success in the city. Till October 19, 2011 the traffic cops have fined around 2,000 motorists by clicking their pictures with hand-held devices connected with an integrated software system.

Now the traffic police are urging the state government to sponsor the program. "We have the mobile sets and equipments but not the sponsor at the moment. Also, there is no service provider for the software needed to run the project. We have discussed the matter with higher authority and requested the state government to sponsor this project," said Bharti Arora, DCP (traffic).

The project, which was launched with the help of cellphone manufacturer Nokia, was aimed at curbing traffic disruption on busy intersections of the Millennium City.
