No takers for Krantiveer sequel

More than 13 years since its release, producer-director Mehul Kumar wants to make a sequel to Krantiveer, but is having a tough time getting actors for it.

More than 13 years since its release, producer-director Mehul Kumar wants to make a sequel to Krantiveer.

Toplining Raj Kumar and Nana Patekar, the patriotic film was a box office hit thanks to the hard-hitting lines mouthed by the two actors.

Despite its success, Kumar is having a tough time getting actors for the sequel.

According to a source, Kumar first called Patekar to discuss a sequel and even briefed him about it.

"But Nana refused point blank. He wasn't even interested in the script narration," says the source.

Next, Kumar made some changes in the lead character, making him younger and approached Kunal Kemmu with the role. "Kunal told Mehul that the subject sounded dated and he couldn't be a part of an old story," our source informs, adding that Kemmu was willing to hear the script after Kumar reworked on it, to make it more contemporary.

However, Kumar was reportedly convinced about his script and chose to approach Shreyas Talpade. Unfortunately for him, "Shreyas couldn't understand the script. He felt it had too many jumps and was causing a lot of confusion.
