Officials of the Indian Army have stressed that there was no vulnerability in their security apparatus and the focus was mainly on rescuing and rehabilitating civilian population, who have been severely affected by flash floods in the state.
"Our security apparatus on borders is secure and we will thwart any attempt of infiltration from across the border. Security situation as far 'counter infiltration grid' is concerned, is firmly in place," said General Officer Commanding (GOC) 16 corps Lieutenant General KH Singh.
However Singh said, "I cannot rule out the possibility that militants would take advantage of the present situation".
Asking that whether threat from across the border had been mitigated to an extent as both sides are deluged, Singh said, "It may have been mitigated temporarily for few days, but we are prepared for any venture from the inimical elements of the country".
According to army sources, militants' cells across the border were intact and there was possibility that they might take advantage of situation to infiltrate.
When asked about the present status of few fences on the border being washed away by the flash floods, GOC said, "Adequate measures have been undertaken by the army to repair and replace fences on the borders. The army will be completing the repair work soon".

{{/usCountry}}Last week, floods caused immense damage to military infrastructure along the border in the state. Five army posts were completely inundated.
He added, "Right now army along with Border Road Organizations (BRO) are working round the clock to repair the road and to clear it from the debris accumulated from landslides on the national highway. The main area of concern is near Ramsoo, where technical and intensive repair work is going on. Opening of highway for commercial vehicles is a big challenge. However, I think that in another 3-4 days highway would become operational for only light motor vehicles."
"As of now, the road connectivity from Kishtwar-Sinthan Pass-Anantnag(Kashmir) has been restored," he added.
So far, 18,000 people stuck in the valley for the last seven days have crossed the national highway covering most part of the journey by foot.
"Most of these people were labourers from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Many of them have reached Udhmapur and are on their way to Jammu", he said.
