The department, which is entrusted with supplying drinking water and maintaining drainage system in the city, has decided to carpet its one-acre compound situated in Old Gurgaon after the local residents complained that the water tankers are refilled outside the campus, causing damage to the road. Once the campus is cemented, the department will be able to allow its hundreds of water tankers to be filled inside.

“We hope as soon as the tender is awarded work of concretisation can begin any time in October,” said Pradeep Kumar, executive engineer, public health.

Kumar held a meeting with senior officials of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), including deputy mayor, to discuss the complaints lodged by the residents who had sought MCG's intervention in the matter as the road falls under the jurisdiction of the civic body.
