THE EMPOWER committee of state government comprising chief secretary Rakesh Sahni, principal secretary Sumit Bose (finance) and principal secretary PD Meena (urban development) has agreed in principle with the proposal of the district administration for landscaping of the Thatipur area.
The meeting held in Bhopal recently discussed the proposal of Redensification of an area stretching over 30 hectares of land where high rise buildings, multiplexes, shopping complex and hospitals are planned in place of old barracks.
It will be developed on public-private partnership with a view to decongesting Maharaj Bada, divisional commissioner Dr Komal Singh has said.
Singh said that the redensification would be carried out in three phases and work on first and third phase covering an area of 16 hectares would be taken up initially.
The empower committee has appointed MP Housing Board as the nodal agency for supervision and valuation of works to be taken up under the scheme.
Tender from private bidders of repute for construction works would be invited for execution of the works. Construction agency would be required to build a 500 bed hospital, 1000 residential house and Collectorate building in the first phase as part of the tender bidding criteria.
The bidding premium by the government would be collected in kind (construction of hospital, collectorate and houses) and cash as well, Singh said.

{{/usCountry}}He said the ambience of Thatipur area after redensification would be transformed in a manner to cater to its economic growth. Singh said the three members of the committee have served in Gwalior in different capacities and therefore the redensification proposal will get a smooth going.
The district planning committee will incorporate in its draft proposal the minor changes suggested by empower committee, he added.
